Research

The surgery is part of a research network

The surgery is part of a research network which means that our patients will have the opportunity to get involved in exciting new research projects and also clinical trials for new medicines. This may mean that from time to time we may contact you if there is a project that is relevant to you, based on the information we have in your medical record.

Participation in these types of studies is optional, and you can also opt out of communication if you don’t want to be notified of these sorts of opportunities.

Being involved in research is stimulating for the clinicians at the practice and also gets them involved in leading edge work that keeps the practice as whole up-to-date and this is going to help our patients get better care.

Over the coming years you may occasionally be contacted by someone form the practice asking you would like to be involved in one of these clinical trials. You are welcome to participate or not – it is entirely your own decision and it will not reflect in any way on the care that you receive from the practice.

Every study the surgery is involved in has been reviewed and approved by the local ethics committee to ensure that they are properly managed, scientifically valid and medically useful. The review also includes all the information provided to patients before they join a study, so that they understand what is involved before they consent to take part, as well as all the information provided to patients during a study.
